The Company
Our client acquires medium-sized companies and parts of groups with headquarters in Europe that are being sold in the course of a repositioning process at their owners and show a clear potential for operational improvement. It actively supports and develops its portfolio companies with its own investment and consulting teams as well as through acquisitions of strategic add-ons. Their goal is to acquire companies with a turnover of EUR 50 to 500 million. The aim is to achieve a clear value increase with a focus on sustainable, long-term growth of the portfolio company.
Within their Operations team, they are looking to hire a leader who has a successful track record with finance experience and continuous improvement attitude, and with an entrepreneurial mindset. This role will be located at portfolio companies, on-site across Europe.
Your Tasks
- Routinely support the integration into the company’s finance and reporting processes of the client’s portfolio companies on-site and support the Operations finance workstream
- Work closely with the CFO, the local finance team as well as the company’s restructuring team on-site and its Group finance team of the Holding
- Manage the financial integration of new acquisitions into the company’s Group (e.g. establish opening balance, manage PPA, perform IFRS conversion, …)
- Manage and improve financial statement closing and other finance/controlling processes and at the same time establish a well-functioning finance organization in the portfolio company
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and audit processes
- Assist the local team with M&A-related accounting topics (e.g. closing statements or financial due diligence questions)
- Support the local finance team with accounting or controlling related projects
- Support the continuous improvement process of the client’s Operations finance practice and develop internal standards and trainings
What You Bring With You
- Finance-related degree from a reputable university or business school
- Professional qualification (such as ACCA, CFA or similar) is a plus
- Previous employer: Big4/Next10 consulting firm (audit plus additional audit-related consulting)
- Company’s mindset: Exceptional entrepreneurship to find and implement creative solution, energy and drive to solve complex problems as well as resilience during distressed situations
- Strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint, experience with SAP or other ERP systems or LucaNet is a plus
- Experience with financial process integrations, IFRS (incl. GAAP conversion) and auditing processes
- Understanding of the private equity industry gained from working with private equity firms is a plus
- Fluency in German and English. Another European language would be advantageous
