German Private Equity Fund focused on Operational Value Creation

The Company

Our client is an established small-cap/mid-cap German private equity fund with a focus on operational value creation. They are looking for a Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) (m/f/d) for one of their portfolio companies that consists of two independent entities specialized in civil engineering. Each entity is led by a team of Managing Directors..

The CTO will support each entity and their respective Managing Directors in all aspects of the transformation process of the portfolio firms. The focus lies on strategy development, finance planning & controlling, M&A, reorganization, process and cost optimization, and unearthing synergies between the entities.

The position provides a long-term incentive scheme for the candidate. After 2 to 3 years the CTO will have the opportunity to take on a Managing Director role in one of the fund’s portfolio firms with P&L responsibility.

What You Bring With You

  • 8-10 years of professional experience from a Top Tier consulting firm, ideally paired with a corporate background. Additional experience from a corporate position is helpful, but not a must
  • Functional focus in strategy, PMO, reorganization, finance, transformations
  • Profound management- and leadership skills in difficult situations requiring change: good combination of soft skills (motivating people in a consensual company culture) and clear target focus
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and passion – high drive to become a future Managing Director and shareholder
  • Flexibility and willingness to work on-site at the portfolio company for 3-4 days/week
  • Ideally mid-market (German ‘Mittelstand’) exposure or at least ‘mind-set’
  • Very much hands-on, ‘get-things-done’ type of person who likes to work in small-/mid-cap environments
  • German native speaker and English language skills
